This is the blog archive for The Mangrove, a network established to facilitate psychosocial support to persons affected by the tsunami disaster of 26th December 2004 and its aftermath. The primary functions of 'The Mangrove' were to coordinate and enhance the quality of psychosocial response for the Batticaloa district. In late 2006, the network's focus shifted from coordinating the sector to supporting key institutions to build capacity to ensure services in the long-term.
BBC World News reports that threat of a tsunami from the earthquake off the coast of Sumatra on 28th March appears to have passed. Vigilance is urged in the next twelve hours, in case of further aftershocks.
